Changing Websites Domain Name

Hello Everyone

I have a question regarding changing the websites domain name . I have a website with domain name www.abc.edu and I want to change it to www.xyz.edu.Can you tell me how I can make this change.The website Resides on a Redhat Server.

That depends on if the site is a virtual host or is running as the only site on the server.

For virtual host you need to change the servername and serveralias, for the other you dont have to do any thing just point the dns for the new name to that server.

 

It is the only site running on the server.How do I point the dns for the new name to that server.???Thanks in advance.

 

if you are running BIND you have to edit the zone file and add the record there.
