In configured ISPconfig system what is the right way to install updates? I was thinking to: 1. To update system run with root user yum update 2. wget http://internap.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/ispconfig/ISPConfig-2.2.21.tar.gz tar xvfz ISPConfig-2.2.21.tar.gz cd install_ispconfig ./setup Is 1st step required?
If you want to update your system, then yes. If you want to update ISPConfig only, then you only need step 2.
In a typical setup one should update the system or not? I taught ISPconfig updates apache etc. so it should not be a security issue? or am I wrong?
ISPConfig does not update anything except the ispconfig controlpanel packes. The apache of your system is not updated by ISPConfig. Please us ethe package manager of your linux distribution to keep your system up to date and additionally install the latest stable ISPConfig versions.
