Hi, Is it possible to defragment files as you can in Windows? . Also can I clean old "cookies" out?. This is not urgent, but I thought the information would be useful to have as I used to clean my old system about every 4 weeks or so to help keep it running efficiently. I have F8 os with Gnome desktop.
Hi jth, there's no need to defragment your files on Linux. Have a look at this page - well explained: http://blog.linuxoss.com/2007/04/15/why-doesnt-linux-need-defragmenting/ Best regards, Olli
Defragment. Thank you for your help. I have read the article which explained why it is not necessary to defragment files in Linux, and I posted a 'thank you' message. Kind regards JTH
