Denyhosts - but better?

Hi, I have denyhosts installed on an OpenSuSE 10.3 machine and it's doing the job perfectly.

However, I have started to notice that other services like the SMTP server get hit a lot, and I could have sworn I have seen a HOWTO on some script that does what 'denyhosts' does, but for *ALL* services you give it access to, but I cannot find it here now

Anyone any idea?
