VmwareServer in Fedora 9

    followed the perfect desktop for fedora 9 for vmware server
    upgraded from fedora 8 and tried to use the fix posted on
    page 7 in fedora 9. and i get errors and it will not compile for new kernel

    Help plz...

    Edited out all of the error message (Too Long)

    Hi ek49,

    these problems were caused by the already patched module sources from your F8 installation. In order that the new patch works you have to...

    1. Deinstall VMware Server
    2. Delete the directory (rm -Rf /usr/lib/vmware/)
    3. Install VMware Server as described in the howto

    Ok
    but before I do that ...
    will I lose any appliance I have?
    I installed a windows XP pro and I do Not want to lose that.
    not a downloaded appliance.

    Hi ek49,

    if your virtual machines are located somwhere in the path (/usr/lib/vmware/...) move them away before you delete the directory. You can copy them back after you re-installed vmware or start them from the new location.

    OK did all that and reinstalled vmware server and ran new patch.
    All is well.
    Thank you so Much...
    Now just waiting on the Nvidia drivers and i am all set.
