problem sending emails

Another noob here....

Hello guru's, sorry to be a pain,

I have installed ISPConfig 3 BETA onto a Ubuntu server 8.0.4 machine. I followed the installation instructions that came with ISPConfig.

I am having trouble sending emails through the new server, I can receive emails fine.

I receive an undeliverable message that states "Relay access denied".

I have seen from other threads that I would need to enable "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", however, once enabled I get another error message: "your email server rejected your login. Verify your username and password...."

I use the same username and password that I use when receiving emails (username being the email address and password being what was set up in ISPConfig 3)

Are there any errors in your mail log and the auth.log?

I don't see any errors here. Do you have some more lines (with errors)?

 

Sorry....I have found these lines in the mail.log:

Jul 7 20:57:27 server postfix/smtpd[2067]: warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: No such file or directory
Jul 7 20:57:27 server postfix/smtpd[2067]: warning: ispdomain.com[ip.ip.ip.ip]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: generic failure

This looks straight forward but I would not know how to resolve

I have sorted this problem using another thread about SASL auth etc..
