I initially installed via the guides on Ubuntu 8.x. which sets a root password. I've since disabled that password and now the ispconfig cronjobs have stopped working. How do I amend to get these running under a different user? Thanks Graeme
The cronjobs have to run as root user as they do systema dministration tasks. If you want to disable the root user login, disable it just in the sshd_config file and do not disable the complete user.
Thanks Till, Did as you suggested, but no joy. Have now discovered this is a bug in Hardy with user accounts. See https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shadow/+bug/238755
