I was using 3.0.0.8 before and ran the upgrade script. Everything seemed to work fine except for the FTP logins.

Please let me know what information need from me and I will post that right away.

    Thanks.

Take a look ath the logfiles for a more detailed error message.

The weird part is after the upgrade nothing appears to be writing to the log.
    /var/log/pureftpd.log

Unless I am looking in the wrong place. I have not customized any of the installation so everything should be defualts for paths and what not.

Could there be another log file I should look at?

    Thanks for the reply.

Okay I have some more information:

Looks like pure-ftpd is having a hard time connection to MySQL. hmmm...

And found this when I try to startup pure-ftp:

In ISPconfig 3 everything is virtualized in mysql, which means, if mysql isn't working, your whole server isn't working :) So start up the mysql and retry.

Unforetunately, I wish it were that easy. MySQL is functioning/interacting fine wth ISPConfig, but for some reason the interaction between PureFTP is a no go. :(

Come on magic solution! COME TO ME! :)

pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [ERROR] The SQL server seems to be down [Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)]

Check what ip MySQL is listening on, and if it isn't localhost aka 127.0.0.1, then change in pure-ftpd.conf to ip that it's correct.

Yes my MySQL server is listening to localhost(127.0.0.1)

I am starting to think it has more to do with the startup of pure-ftp.

Been reading around and finding information about the '-s' command but have no luck with that issue. I know it has to be something small, it always is lol.

Which linux distribution do you use?

I'm also having similar problems with pure-ftpd after doing an upgrade from 3.0.0.8 ro 3.0.0.9 under ubuntu 8.10

If I ftp using the linux system's account I have no problem. I I ftp using a ispconfig user account then I get this message:

    Name (192.168.2.177:ignasi):
331 User ignasi OK. Password required
    Password:
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
    Login failed.
No control connection for command: No such file or directory
    ftp>

    Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I am on CentOS 5.2

I have created in the past a user called darkii, afterwards, I created other user called darkangelus with other directory but this user can't log in. Why?

Well, I deleted the ftp user and created it again and now it works. Go figure... maybe I deserve it for using release candidates :)
