proftpd 530 Login incorrect?

    hi . I was trying to login to localhost using proftpd but it is asking for user name and password . But while installing i did not give any user name and password to proftpd .

    I installed proftpd using source code from fftp://ftp.proftpd.org/distrib/proftpd-1.3.2rc4.tar.gz
    ./configure --sbinddir=/usr/sbin
    make
    make install

    after this i tried to connect to my localhost but it was asking for UName and Password.

    [root@localhost ~]# ftp localhost

    What is the problem did i missed some thing?

    You must log in with a system user name and his password.

    Yep i got the solution ?

    For login to your website through ftp you have to create a user and you must have to specify that usergroup in your /etc/proftpd.conf file. Initially i missed that to specify a usergroup in my proftpd.conf file. After specifying a group there you can login as a user which belongs to that group.

    now have look of m,y proftpd.conf file and pay special attention on underlined and bold font .. you need to specify a usergroup .
