Dear all, I really need some advices. I would like to lock/secure root account, that nobody, except me, can not change/reset root's password even localy. Is it possible to do it at all? It's very important thing for me now. Server is up and running now. The main reason for that is information inside server. What a pity, I didn't install the system on encrypted partitions! Now I can't accept server localy and some peoples want to take my 2-3 months of work out of the server and not to pay for it. Sooner or later they'll hire somebody with enough experience to reset root's password It's long story, but I'm definetely right. I want to lock the server until they will pay to me. I know, there is small chances to do that, but if there is I'm ready to try. Thanks!
I don't think this is possible. The only thing you can do is change the password so that only you can log in. But I don't know what legal implications this might have in your case.
It doesn't matter, Falco, because only I knew root's password anyway. So, there is no way to secure root's account on machine and even root's account for MySQL? Is it easy to change admin's password for ISPconfig 3 after local login to machine as root? I don't now what else can I do to make things harder. Thanks, Falco.
That's all, finished They took the control of machine All my work now is gone, everything is lost... I understand reasons of these security issues, but... As Linux administrator I was hopping I can do more to secure my interest and rights at last on machine I'm administering, until disputes/misunderstandings can be solved.
