Hi All, I am installing Fedora 10 on an Xserve G5 machine and am having an issue configuring and in particular am getting c compiler errors in relation to the steps on page 4 of the HowToForge setup. I have downloaded the packages as it says in the steps on page 4, however because I am using a PowerPC machine I create on of the directories as /ppc as opposed to the /i386 in the steps. When I got the errors I backtracked and created the /i386 directory and still have the same error. When I do the step: sudo rpmbuild ta courier-authlib-0.62.1.tar.bz2 I get an: configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables Then: error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.EGdkVY (%prep) Can anyone suggest a way around this and also does anyone know what I should use for the Network configuration setting if I am using a Virgin Media Broadband service during setup. Thanks in anticipation, Lloyd Codrington
Hi Falko, As far as I am aware that was the only error. However I did recognise something later on. In my post I stated that as a Xserve G5 I changed a line in the installation instructions to ppc. I now think I should have created a directory /ppc64, /ppc_64, /powerpc and powerpc_64 as the G5 is a 64bit processor. I was going to email you and ask your advice Falko and ask if we could create a How To for the ppc64 architecture. I would be willing to assist as much as possible. Lloyd
Hi Falko, Yes I did try every format mentioned and also a couple more however none was successful. Lloyd
