I have a problem with my mail server, firstly. I can login using usernames such as [email protected] when using SquirrelMail. When i send a email out from SquirrelMail the recipient says its from literally: Recieved from [email protected] instead of the real user & the real domain name, so its getting classed as spam. When using Outlook to login into the email server it denies any username, i think this could be a config error somewhere. Any ideas on how to correct this? As im becoming stressed, lol. Many thanks.
After an hour of stress and brain strain, ive found my own answer so i thought i better share what ive found out: When logging into SquirrelMail ive realised that the default name that ispconfig gives you is: [email protected] which gets rejected by other servers because the MX does not comply from the originating email address. Ive found you have to update your personal details of all your email accounts once you have created them. So when you send out another email with the correct personal details the outboaund email server then accepts as "non-spam" and the MX is correct from the sending email address. As with my login details ive found that in outlook ive had to set it up as follows, but with a wierd outgoing problem: Incoming: mail.the-right-domainname.com Outgoing: mail.the-right-domainname.com Username: web1_and the correct user name Password: what-ever-it-is Outgoing is set to logon with same as incoming username. When i test the settings within Outlook both incoming and outgoing process with no problem and get a tick for both, but when i try to send an email from within outlook to an external email server i get the message "undeliverable" relay denied. Now the only problem i have left is that i can send & recieve out emails from within the web based interfaces, but only recieve within Outlook. Any ideas as this has baffled my brain, lol. Hope you all can get your head around what ive explained here, and ive also tried SSL options within Outlook and still the same. Any help appreciated.
Then outlook is not sending an smtp authentication to your email server when you send emails. Check the outllok settings again and make sure that you have enabled the checkbox "server requires authentication" in the outgoing email settings.
