    Hi Guys,

What nice firewall can I use in hardening my server? Is iptables sufficient enough or a third party firewall is better like smoothwall?

All I want is to blocked all outgoing and incoming ports then allow only those ports that my users will need like http, smtp, pop3 and the likes. I will be using CentOS and setup this server as a proxy server using Squid.

Hope you can give me idea guys.

    Thanks,

    John

smoothwall also uses iptables so it is technically the same thing.

If you want a pretty GUI then find something else. IPTables is perfectly fine though, you just have to configure from flat files.
