Hi guys, I am total newbie in ISPConfig3 and I have an issue with emails. I cannot send or recevie any mail. I've installed ISPConfig3 based on tutorial: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-10.04-lucid-lynx-ispconfig-3 and everything went fine. Only problem I have with emails. I am using roundcube webmail client instead of squirrelmail and it shows that my email was sent but it never arrives. It is the same as receiving mail. I am not sure if I configured everything correctly and i'll appreciate any help. Of course I pointed my domain to my server ip address, created e-mail domain and created e-mail account. I can log in and send emails but they are not delivered at all. amavisd is not running. Please start amavisd with the strat script in /etc/init.d: /etc/init.d/amavisd start aditionally, you configured postfix wth a wrong domain name. You may never use a domain that shall be used as email domain in postfix main.cf (thats why the perfect server guide instructions you to use server1.example.com and not example.com as hostname). Edit the /etc/postfix/main.cf file and replace e.g. marr.net.pl with mail.marr.net.pl and restart postfix.
i knew that posting here will be good idea, thanks for your reply. Problem is that /etc/init.d/amavisd start returns to me: -bash: /etc/init.d/amavisd: No such file or directory i think it is because according to the tutorial that i've used i installed amavisd-new but not amavisd (http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-10.04-lucid-lynx-ispconfig-3-p4 - step nr 13) What should I do now? As for the second part of your post could you tell me if can i use my server ip address instead of domain name? It is because there is no specific fqdn pointing to my server, all are handled by ispconfig and redirected to client directories. I will be glad for some more help. Thanks.
The name of the amavisd script may vary depending on the linux distribution. In your case it might be named e.g. amavisd-newrun: /etc/init.d/amavisd-new start No, you have to use a fqdn. okay, i managed to get amavis working by typing /etc/init.d/amavis restart is that correct? also, i changed hostname to server.marr.net.pl in /etc/hostname and /etc/postfix/main.cf and added 127.0.0.1 server.marr.net.pl in /etc/hosts. Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf. Scroll down to the line that starts with mydestination = Either, remove the name marr.net.pl, OR, change it to be server.marr.net.pl if that isn't already there. While you have /etc/postfix/main.cf open, scroll to myhostname = Remove 217.153.56.126 and put server.marr.net.pl Save the file and restart postfix. See how you go then.
i feel dumb right now Thanks you guys, I don't know what would I do. Now everything works fine, both sending and receiving mail. I had to change mydestination from marr.net.pl to server.marr.net.pl and everything started to work. Again, thanks for your help.
