hdmi - video but no sound

Hi everyone,

I am asking for your help since it's been one week i am surfing the web with no result.
My problem is that i have no sound through my HDMI connection under ubuntu 10.4.
My computer is a Dell Hybrid studio with Intel hardware (audio 82801H (ICH8 Family) & video GM965/GL960).
I can send aplay -l or lspci result if u need it.

Any idea is welcome

sorry but what kind of logs are u talking about ? (i am a new linux user)

 

what troubles me is that no HDMI hardware is listed when i run aplay -l...

 

Please check the logs in the /var/log directory.
