Hi, I often encounter high CPU usage on ISPConfig3 that will go away after a reboot. When I run top, I found 2 processes - myDNS executed by nobody that took up 99.7% of the cpu cycle (see attached). I proceed to kill these 2 processes and it was back to normal. Any idea what is these processes for? Is my ISPConfig3 got hacked or infected? Please advise.
mydns is the dns server, it normally does not cause any high cpu usage. Which mydns version do you have installed?
I did not install any additional module beside ISPConfig3 on top of ubuntu. Anyway, the version of mydns is 1.2.8.15
Not that this could matter but you should upgrade to the latest version http://sourceforge.net/projects/mydns-ng/ Till alot of people still use your perfect server how to's. Is there any way that the ones for ISPCONFIG 3 could get updated to use 1.2.8.31
Talking about upgrading modules in ISPCONFIG 3, I realize that clam anti-virus is another headache. After some times, we have to manually upgrade clam to a new version before clam allows any download of virus definition. Good if clam upgrade can be automated just like virus definition updates.
You have to update Clam like any other package on your system, i.e., using your distribution's package manager.
