Having downloaded manual ispconfig3 and being installing I meet at page 17/18 at SET THE HOSTNAME OF THE SERVER it is advised to do: /etc/init.d/hostname.sh start but then the system says: hostname.sh unknown. In /etc/init.d I see HOSTNAME, but not with the SH. and immediately thereafter is advised to look if the following line is present in sources.list deb http://volatile.debian..............aso but I installed ubuntu. Do I have the right version of ispconfig manual ? What could you advise me to do ?
Which Linux distribution and version do you use? The multiserver guide in the ispconfig manual is for Debian 5.0.
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS conform: http://howtoforge.com/perfect_server_ubuntu-10.04/lucid-lynx-ispconfig-3
Take a look at chapter 7 on http://howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-10.04-lucid-lynx-ispconfig-3-p3 : Code: echo server1.example.com > /etc/hostname /etc/init.d/hostname restart This is not required for Ubuntu, only for Debian Lenny.
