Virtualization With Xen On Debian Lenny (AMD64)

    My XEN servers are setup according : http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualization-with-xen-on-debian-lenny-amd64

    I am prepairing an upgrade from Lenny to Squeeze, so I've read http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-upgrade-debian-lenny-debian-5.0-to-squeeze-debian-6.0-on-xen-vps with great interest. However, i'm still not convinced what's the best way how to upgrade from Lenny to Squeeze when using XEN.

    I'm also reading this howto: http://wiki.stocksy.co.uk/wiki/Upgrading_a_Debian_Lenny_dom0_to_Squeeze and it seems that this howto explains how to deal with Grub2.

    What's the better way of doing the job?
    Did anyone upgrade already?

    I would like to share some experience here.

    I'm not using Xen anymore (switched to OpenVZ), so I can't tell anything about it.

    Falko,

    Any particular reasons that you made the switch to OpenVZ? I am using ESXi and Xen at present, but was considering KVM and OpenVZ for my next project. As I respect your opinions and expertise, I was curious why you made the change.

    OpenVZ seems to be faster and use less resources, and it's easier to manage.

    We used Xen with disk images, and those disk images were really slow and hurt the server performance enormously. Not sure if it's different with LVM, but not much, I guess...
