I'm tryingto install postfix-tls However, when I do, I get the following error message: The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: postfix-tls: Depends: postfix (= 2.1.5-9) E: Broken packages >> however, my postfix version is 2.2.3-2, so it shouldn't fail this dependency.
What happens when you run Code: apt-get install postfix-tls postfix Are you on Debian Sarge? How did you install Postfix? From the sources, as a Debian package, and if as a Debian package, where is it from (debian.org, backports.org, ...)? tyler
My debian system has been updated from woody to what I believe is a sarge system. I'm a little new to debian. I have installed postfix from debain packages using apt-get I was following the sarge install howto and using it to set up my mail service. If I do as you suggested, I get the following: starbase:/etc/postfix# apt-get install postfix-tls postfix Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done postfix is already the newest version. Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: postfix: Conflicts: postfix-tls postfix-tls: Depends: postfix (= 2.1.5-9) E: Broken packages
