Can someone confirm whether or not it is possible to run an ISPConfig 3 Server using Amazon EC2? Thx, Happz
Yes it is. Yesterday I just created on ubuntu server with Elastic IP and I installed ISPConfig 3 on that. I will have to cancel that because I need to move files from cpanel to ISPconfig but I didn't find any tutorial on how to do that. But it is possible
Nice! Now forgive me for not being coursed in Amazon but I'm about to move and take down my ispconfig3 Debian server and I would like to bring up a remote server I run out of my house so I can continue hosting. My question is- (and this is for anyone)- Will I be charged for just running the server even if there isn't any users hitting the site? I guess I'm confused on how they make money off of this. Maybe just by running a website and pinging it or uploading pictures or video they charge for data...just not sure...thx Happz
The storage part is pretty cheap, it's more the server that will cost. You can work that out here: http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/calc5.html But... good news! You can run a micro instance, 24 hours a day, for a year, for free: http://aws.amazon.com/free/ I've just finished my year of that, and it did very well for me.
