Help! I recently upgraded to Ubuntu Natty Narwhal and it broke my Grub boot loader. I have logical volumes btw. I've been trying to repair it but when I repaired it I got an error "the symbol grub xputs not found" and then I get the grub rescue prompt.

I have the feeling that I am not going to be able to boot into my machine without a fresh install. I used rsnapshot to backup my servers. Does anyone have any recommendations on restoring these backups. There are lots of tutorials regarding backing up but very little on restoring.

Have you tried to repair this with the Ubuntu Natty LiveCD? Not sure if it works though...

I've tried just about everything else. I'm about to try it. I'll let you know how I do.
The update borked my system it seems. With the fresh install do I have to use lvm with ispconfig3?

You can use LVM, but it's not required.
