It would be helpful if you told us something about your software.

Are you using Courier or Dovecot? Did you install the software yourself?

As the error message cited indicates, something else is already bound to port 25, which may be (part of) the reason that Postfix won't start.

    What does the output of

    Code:
    netstat -l

indicate with regard to SMTP and POP/IMAP?

    Great, thanks.

So, as we already suspected, neither SMTP or POP/IMAP is listening for incoming connections.

a.) Did this setup ever work? Or is this a new installation?

b.) Have you installed the SASL libraries, e.g.:

    Code:
    apt-get install libsasl2-2 libsasl2-modules libsasl2-modules-sql sasl2-bin libpam-mysql

c.) What happens (i.e., what is output to the terminal and what is appended to /var/log/mail.log) when you attempt to start Dovecot, e.g.:

    Code:
    # service dovecot start

d.) Can you post the contents of the following two files? (Please be sure to wrap the output with code tags.)

    Code:
    /etc/postfix/master.cf
    /etc/postfix/main.cf

    Let's start there...

I know this is off topic.. But why are you using Lenny?
    From debian.rog
You need to upgrade to squeeze.

Thanks, but the only question of mine that you addressed was d.), and you neglected to wrap the contents in code tags.

To help you, we need more information. Please re-read my previous post.
