We were moving along rather nicely in getting our new server prepared to install ISPConfig3 until we ran into the following error: [root@webserver ~]# sa-update [root@webserver ~]# chkconfig --levels 235 amavisd on [root@webserver ~]# chkconfig --levels 235 clamd on error reading information on service clamd: No such file or directory I followed what I thought was the solution: #mkdir /var/run/clamd No problem here (except after a reboot, the directory no longer exists) Then I tried to understand the following command: #chown root:<same group name that clamd runs as> /var/run/clamd (I have no clue as to what 'same group name that clamd runs as'. Please explain) I do not want to go any further in the prep work until I can get clamd to function properly. Please advise - thanx in advance!
Please verify: I've found that service 'clamd' is now called 'clamd.amavisd'. I've upgraded my spamassassin on my ISPconfig 3 last Friday and it removed the amavis-new so I had no mails on mailboxes until I found this. Regards.
I am unsure what to verify because I do not understand why the directory was not created; and whether or not I should create the directory, remove then start from scratch or something else. Please advise.
Sorry it took so long to reply...you know, changing priorities. But I'm back now. Here's the response...Thanks! Is there a knowledgeable individual willing to provide insight to help me solve my challenge with clamAV?
The impression I get is that you have a CentOS 6 system with a kernel from CentOS 5. Can you check your OS version in /etc/redhat-release or /etc/centos-release?
Here's the log: [webdev@webserver ~]$ sudo vi /etc/redhat-release [sudo] password for webdev: "/etc/redhat-release" "/etc/redhat-release" 1L, 27CCentOS release 5.7 (Final) ~ ~ :q [webdev@webserver ~]$ logout It still looks like it's CentOS 5.7 It's a virgin server, so I can do whatever is required since there's no websites on it yet.

Yes. Please check the contents of these files to make sure they use CentOS 5 repositories, not CentOS 6 repos.
