Well i've decided, after trying a few boot CD's, that i'm going to install Linux, the problem is there are so many distributions that it's hard to tell which one i should install. I know quite a bit about computers as i'm currently studying ICT in college so if a particular distribution is for the more technical user, that won't be a problem. Now, while i may know a fair bit about computers, i still like simple GUI's and would like a distribution that's easy to do the "basics" on, (such as instant messaging, emailing, web browsing etc etc.) Oh, another thing is, i'm quite into gaming, so obviously i'd like a Linux distrubution that won't be too difficult to get games running on, i've heard of some problems with gaming on some distributions. Thanks.Raspberry Ketone
I recommend to take a look at Linux Mint if you search for a good Linux Desktop: http://www.howtoforge.com/the-perfect-desktop-linux-mint-12-lisa http://www.howtoforge.com/introduction-to-the-linux-mint-cinnamon-desktop Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu Linux, so most articles about Ubuntu apply should work for Linux Mint as well.
