    Hello HowToForge community.
I installed ISPconfig following the perfect server guide for debian. Then I create the ftp users, I can't login. pure-ftpd in verbose (debug mode), it was complaining about database, so I created the database for it, and the table. But then I create users in ISPConfig they are not added in the database. So what kind of authentication method ISPConfig uses ? Or am I doing something wrong ?

I tried connecting over plain FTP, and FTP over TLS, reinstalled the ftp server, nothing. I have no more ideas how to make the ftp users to work, could someone help ? :(

Please undo that as your setup conflicts now with ispconfig.

Your pure-ftpd connects to the wrong database. the ftp users are stored inside the ispconfig database and pure-ftpd connects to it.

I guess you installed or reinstalled pure-ftpd after you had ispconfig installed and that remobved the correct pure-ftpd configuration. To fix that, download the ispconfig3 tar.gz file again, unpack it and run the update.php script. Choose to reconfigure services during update so that your config files get fixed.

Maybe over date, but I had the same problem (530 connection error). After installing everything with the perfect server guide, I couldn't connect with ftp.

REBOOT your system and everything worked for me :)
