    Hello,

Can you help with this please.

I have followed the instructions for the perfect server install of ISPconfig on to ubuntu.

I cannot login with the FTP.

It recognises the user but shows 530 Login Authentication Failed.

I did some searching and found another thread which asks to make sure that the user can log in to the mysql db with the FTP creds, which it can.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I checked the FTP logs but no giveaways there, not that I can see anyway.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to any replies :)

    Cheers
    Bruce

Are you sure that you used the correct (full) ftp username? A ftp username consists of a prefix and the part that you entered as user, so when you login with a ftp client the full username incl. prefix has to be used.

You can see the full username e.g. in the list of ftp users in ispconfig in the username column.

    Folder access

    Hi Till,

Thanks for your first pointer which got me logged in. I can now see the directory listing under the clients/client1/web1

However, i have permission denied if I want to access the flders?

I checked the user path in FTP options and it is /var/www/client/client1/web1 which should be ok.

    thanks again

    Bruce

You can access only the web/ and the private/ folder - all other folders have the immutable bit set for security reasons.

Thanks Falko, however, as you can see from the highlighted text below, it does not allow this?

    Started again!

As this was a new server, I figured I probably mashed up the install somewhere along the line and had the snapshot installed from just before I started step 12 on the "perfect server" guide.

With a bit more experience 2nd time around it seems OK

The FTP worked straight away and I suspect everything else will.

    Thank you for the help!
