Any ideas? I'm sure when I first configured the system, emails worked. I only tested them using the squirrelmail webmail, but I could send and receive. Now - nothing!

    Thanks,

    Adam

Amavis is not started. Please run:

    /etc/init.d/amavis restart

    and then:

    /etc/init.d/postfix restart

How much ram does your server has?

    Hi Till,

    Thanks for the speedy response.

Amavis wasn't running - any idea why that is/was? I restarted it and restarted Postfix, but it doesn't appear to have made any difference.

Sorry - forgot to answer: 613MB.

I think you will definitly run into trouble with that amount of ram.
I had a Server with 1024MB ram and it refused to run because the virus scanner (clamav) takes lots of ram, the mail server, the web server, the database server... That's quite a lot of services for this small amount of memory.
And if amavis runs, but cannot access the virus scanner it might refuse mails.
    Is the clamav daemon running?
I had some cases where amavis even crashed due to a failing clamav daemon.

clamav appears to be running, however amavis has stopped again.

I understand that 613MB is not alot. What would be the best thing/s to remove? I don't specifically need a local DNS service (as far as I understand it!) nor anti-virus or spamassassin.

I could even remove the mySQL server, as I'm only planning on hosting static sites on the server.

Shall I just remove them? What is the best way to do this - "apt-get remove ..."?

Will removing these services cause ISPconfig problems?

    Cheers,

    Adam

Thanks so much for your prompt and helpful replies. I'm off on vacation for next week, so have drawn a line under the problems until I return.

I'll look at it afresh then.

    Thanks again.

    Adam
