Pop3 is not working, but everything else does.

    I just built a new Ipsconfig 3 server, using Centos 6.3 Perfect server instructions.
    I updated Ipsconfig afterwards. Everything seems to work fine, mail can come and go, webmail works, etc.
    But POP3 doesn't seem to work. When I use a mail client, such as Outlook, I can send mail, but it will not connect to Pop. I've tried Imap, same results. It can't connect to the server with a client.

    I don't know where to start to troubleshoot. If you can give me some ideas where to look I would appreciate it.

    All it gives me when Outlook tries to connect to the pop3 server is:

    Feb 27 17:10:01 web pop3d: Connection, ip=[::1]
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web pop3d: Disconnected, ip=[::1]
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web imapd: Connection, ip=[::1]
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web imapd: Disconnected, ip=[::1], time=0
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web postfix/smtpd[5512]: connect from localhost[::1]
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web postfix/smtpd[5512]: lost connection after CONNECT from localhost[::1]
    Feb 27 17:10:01 web postfix/smtpd[5512]: disconnect from localhost[::1]

    What is odd is that when I try it from home, it works, but from my office, it does not. DNS seems to check out. The clients are the same version, and configuration the same.

    Should I be able to telnet into the mail server?

    In Office, you're on the same LAN as the server?

    Could be a Firewall problem in your Office!

    Turns out it was the firewall. They block port 110 here.

    Thanks for all replies.

    Is there a reason you want to get pop3 running? Pop3 usually downloads email from the servers and removes them from the server while IMAP syncs them between client(s) and server. I prefer IMAP for that reason.
