Hello, I am installing right now, an ispconfig with The Perfect server tutorial on a virtual machine. The problem IS: - for the next 4-5 months i will be prived of internet acces ... Can you please tell how to setup my named so that i can use somehow, the ISPconfig features, while offline ? i mean DNS Settings, Sites creation, and acces to those websites, or i simply leave these features intact, and i use the default web interface on my virtual machine ?? i need this so i can work, during my free time on some API implementations in ISPConfig, i am trying to create my own API Interface, with all the features. but a have to know also if they work of course .... Is there a way to fool the DNS resolver to listen directly to my virtual server as being the DNS provider or somehow ??? Thank you very much !
You can do it 2 ways. One is to setup your pc to use your virtual server as its primary DNS server. The other way is to edit you host file on your PC to point domain names to the vurtual servers IP address. 10.0.0.5 mydomain.com host file is found in /etc on linux and C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\ on windows XP and above.
