i have installed ISP config as "The perfect setup - suse 10.0" guide. everything seems to be working well. i made DNS entries as " how to run your own nameservers with ISPconfig and GoDaddy" (my appreciation to falko ). when i finished master and slave entries BIND server seems offline. is it because my domain-registrar did not updated my domain to my nameservers? (ns1.ariferdogan.com.tr yet seems on my ex-host's nameserver DNS server which is ns1.mavipiksel.com.tr) Second i want to install backuppc, it comes with a cgi- web interface. but i dont know where to put the cgi files. should i create a new virtual host for backuppc? or where to install cgi-script? thanks for the help.
Which BIND? On your primary or secondary name server? What's the output of Code: netstat -tap ? Any errors in the log files? Create a web site with ISPConfig (if you haven't done so already) and enable CGI for it. then place the script into the cgi-bin directory of that web site and make them executable.
here is netstat -tap Code: Active Internet connections (servers and established) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:smpnameres *:* LISTEN 4978/xinetd tcp 0 0 *:smux *:* LISTEN 29167/snmpd tcp 0 0 *:rsync *:* LISTEN 4978/xinetd tcp 0 0 *:5801 *:* LISTEN 4978/xinetd tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 29462/mysqld tcp 0 0 *:netbios-ssn *:* LISTEN 14479/smbd tcp 0 0 *:5901 *:* LISTEN 4978/xinetd tcp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:* LISTEN 4674/portmap tcp 0 0 *:hosts2-ns *:* LISTEN 20914/ispconfig_htt tcp 0 0 *:smtp *:* LISTEN 7926/master tcp 0 0 *:microsoft-ds *:* LISTEN 14479/smbd tcp 0 0 localhost:958 *:* LISTEN 5022/fam tcp 0 0 *:imaps *:* LISTEN 29247/couriertcpd tcp 0 0 *:filenet-rpc *:* LISTEN 5028/xdm tcp 0 0 *:pop3s *:* LISTEN 29298/couriertcpd tcp 0 0 *:pop3 *:* LISTEN 29267/couriertcpd tcp 0 0 *:imap *:* LISTEN 29218/couriertcpd tcp 0 0 *:www-http *:* LISTEN 32553/httpd2-prefor tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 4913/sshd tcp 0 0 *:smtp *:* LISTEN 7926/master tcp 0 0 *:https *:* LISTEN 32553/httpd2-prefor tcp 0 0 192.168.2.200%1075:pop3 192.168.2:cadkey-licman TIME_WAIT - tcp 0 740 192.168.2.200%10750:ssh 192.168.2.2%10:florence ESTABLISHED 18922/0 i am hosting only one site at server (ariferdogan.com.tr) if i add another website and place the script files into cgi-bin dir. how can i access them from another pc on my network? if i enter the IP directly i c "shared IP" page. and i just want that cgi-script to be avaible only from local network.
Which BIND? On your primary or secondary name server? Any errors in the log files? http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/your_script.cgi You cannot use IP addresses because ISPConfig configures name-based vhosts. You can use a fake domain for that web site and configure it on a local DNS server that your client PCs use in your LAN, or you edit the hosts file of each client PC: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432&highlight=hosts+file+windows
Server does not even start Hallo. This morning my server does not even wana start... the details are as follows: Code: Bringing up Loopback interface: OK Bringing up interface eth0: OK Starting system logger: OK Starting Kernal logger: OK Starting irqbalance: OK Starting named: And it just "hangs" (cursor just flassing) after that. Further more as i said in my previous post... I thouched on Linux 7 years ago so I am a bit rusted... how do i do this IF I can get my server up and running again. Thanx
Like this: Code: tail -n100 /var/log/syslog or Code: tail -n100 /var/log/messages where 100 is the number of lines you'd like to see from the end of the file.
Server not starting!!! Thanx guys but : My server does not even wana start! it just hangs. Is there a way to tell the server to TOTALY skip this step on loading/starting the Fedora system... Thanx PS. I entered the system with the install DVD and went into Resque mode but when i did "tail" it seemed to show me the last few lined of the just started system so I do not know how to see the FAILED log lines. I also am not sure where the named.config file is and if I find it can i just delete it or how will i know what is wrong in it to fix it... I much rather prefer to fix it and not delete the file and start from scratch. Thanx again PPS. Good news... Ok almost good news... BOOT 1. I went into Interactive mode for the start and found out if i do NOT start the "named" service the system can go on BUT if i then start the "FirstBoot" the system just gives me a blue screen... BOOT 2. I then tried a second time... No start on "named" AND No start on "FirstBoot" but when i started the ISPConfig service it does: ----------------------------------------------------------- /root/ispconfig/httpd/bin/apachectl startssc: httpd started ----------------------------------------------------------- And then it hands... BOOT 3. I then tried a third time... No start on "named", No start on "FirstBoot" AND No start on "ISPConfig" and YEA!!!! i can log on now. So what do I do now??? AGAIN I would prefer not to start over so if I can just fix it I would prefer that. THANX
