Hi So I just installed Ispconfig on a DigitalOcean droplet running debian wheezy. And Im running on the "weakest" droplet and thus having only 512MB Ram. I have done some basic tuning to apache, mysql and clamav. And it bearly runs.(Yeah, I really want amavis to run) I have turned off several non-essential services for my needs via the ispconfig interface (bind etc). Now, things are working just fine with a added swap space of 256Mb. So I wonder if I could use the mysql database Im running at home to help me save on the ram. (disabling the local one) My homeserver runs 24/7 on a 60/60 fiber and used to run my mailserver. But I wanted to move the mailserver away from my server thats why I'm using Digital Ocean for this. Now, I have googled this and I'm only finding examples running replication not external db. Grimnar
ISPConfig requires a database on localhost. Beside that, if you dont have a 1gbit connection from your home to digitalocean in both directions, running a mysqldb at home would be incredibly slow.
The few users I have will never notice the difference when it comes to mail latency. And Im the only one using the website. Are there any other options for outsourcing stuff or other ram-saving tweaks.
