I'm trying to at least migrate the e-mail configuration from an old server to a new one.

    New config: Ubuntu 12.04 x64 ISPConfig 3.0.5.2
    Old Server: Ubuntu 10.04 x64 ISPConfig 3.0.3.3

    I'm using the Tools>Import>ISPConfig 3 mail

It keeps saying eigther can't connect or login failed.

Also, I signed up for membership. I'm sorry I haven't been contributing more to the project.

Have you set up a remote user on the old system ?
It is under SYSTEM/USER MANAGEMENT/REMOTE USER.

Ahh you were right... was just trying to use the admin user.

So now the problem is that the only thing imported was the domain name and settings that's it.

No e-mail mailboxes or anything else.

yes I remember thinking why there wasn't just a select all function.

I went through and clicked each one. Is there a conflict between versions possibly?

Yes, thats possible. You should consider to update the old system before you run the import as it assumes that you have the same data structure in old and new server and the data structures can change between ispconfig major releases.

Is there any chance of breaking the system doing the upgrade? Is there a special method for the version I have?

There is always the possibility to break something during a update, but that normally does not happen. I recommend to install available update regularily.

You should make a backup of /etc/, /usr/local/ispconfig and the dbispconfig database bafore the update so you can roll back the old install in case of a failure.

As you missed to install many updates on the old server, I recommend to install the 3.0.4.6 update first and then the 3.0.5.2 update.

    Import Email Configuration Error

When I go to import the email configuration from the older server to the new one I get two errors:
    invalid userid
    invalid groupid

I can find no reference as to which userid and groupid is invalid. Also none of the logs reflect this error.

    Any help?

P.S. I have both servers running the same version of Ispconfig. I have checked all the boxes on the remote user of the older server.
However older server running apache, newer server running nginx. I can find no major userid or groupid differences in the passwd and group files.

Import Email Configuration Error - Resolved

Found the issue. Even though I dont use it on the older server, a client must exist on the newer sever to import email configurations.

Is this tool appropriate for importing from 3.0.5.2 to 3.1.1p1? I have the 3.1 manual; however, it says little about the tool.
