Hi everyone! I setup my OVH vServer with Debian 7 according to the Perfect Server tutorial. Whenever I send mail to someone, the mail always lands in their spam folder. Can anyone tell me likely reasons for this? Thanks in advance
You should ask the receiver. There should be informations about this in the mail-log. You can also check the headers for the received mail.

Unless someone here would be willing to accept an e-mail from me and check their log and post it here.
Florian was kind enough to let me send him an e-mail and we found out that he can't reply. The error is, there is no such inbox. I have registered the domain with GoDaddy and entered an A record with my OVH vServer's IP address. Is the error maybe due to the fact, that I didn't add new MX records for the domain at GoDaddy? Maybe the sent mail is going to GoDaddy rather than my vServer?
For email you need a MX record as well, you should add that at godaddy. A nice tool to test your dns setup is e.g. intodns.com
Thanks till! I don't have much experience with DNS. If it's a quick and simple answer, maybe you or someone else could answer here. Where would I be able to find out, which hostname I should add as MX records? I assume it could be vpsXxXXX.ovh.net - the hostname of my vServer?
Your server hostname is fine for that. Basicaly you can use and domain / subdomain in the MX record as long as it points to your server via an A-Record.
Thanks! Now the e-mails are coming in. But outgoing mail is still going to spam folders. Is it because the MX record isn't something like blabla.mydomain.com but rather vpsxx.ovh.net?
After googling a bit, I found mention of a DKIM key that every e-mail should have. Is it possible that I have to install a DKIM add-on to ispconfig in order for Google to properly accept my mail?
To make a long story short... I signed up with zoho and set my mail hosting there. It's free and totally fitting for what I need. This thread may be closed. Thanks again Till and Florian!
