    Hi,

I have ISPconfig 3.0.4.6 installed on a barley used server and was wondering if I wanted to offer just online storage as a service my features would be:
    1. FTP
    2. SSH
    3. Samba?
    4. rsync ?

I'm not quite sure what is the purpose of "Resync Tool" ?

    TIA

ISPConfig is a hosting control panel used for websites, email, dns. It is specifically not designed to offer file sharing or online storage but you can offer online storage by using the webdav user feature, webdav shares can be used as online storage from all major operting systems.

This tool resyncs configuration changes from the ispconfig mysql database to the config files.

    Thanks for the reply!

    I will look into webdav.
Can someone with ftp account and maybe access to "SSH-Chroot Options" use rsync since its already installed?

None of these are checked I should probbably check it?

Please dont mix up "rsync" with the configuration resync feature from ispconfig, they are not related.

The ssh chroot jail does not contain the rsync command by default. But it is possible to add rsync there so a chrooted user should be able to use rsync to sync files then.

No. This tool is only used if you changed settings manually with phpmyadmin in the ispconfig database or when you moved your installation to a new server.

Both have similar names so its easy to mix them up :)

Can you please point me to tutorial on how to add rsync and test it?

Where does the rsync-tool stores the copies?

This is about resync feature in ISPConfig, resync stands for "Re synchronisation", this is not related to the program rsync, so there are no copies created nor stored anywhere
