I know I can disable virus scanning completely from the control panel and I have appropriately disabled scanning on my domain and the email address where it needs to completely stay out of the way. I work for a small town newspaper. We have a mailing list of about 5000 recipients. When I send out weekly notice of updated content, my server load goes over the top(from < 1 to sometimes > 20) with what appears to be clamav scanning everything going out. This weekly mailout has become an almost guaranteed way for me to crash my otherwise nice 8 GB RAM/4 CPUs Ubuntu 12.04 VPS. Where would I begin to troubleshoot this? I think virus scanning is important for inbound email so I really like to resolve the matter with that.
Try to add a user with username and email pattern: .@ in spamfilter > spamfilter user / domain in ispconfig and select a policy that has spam and antivirus scanning disabled. Locla has to be set to yes.
Thank you for taking the time to help me out on this. There was no option to have spam and antivirus scanning disabled so I chose "nonpaying." Is this correct? Please see the screenshots.
