Dear guys, I've a server configed exactly as per following doc: https://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-wheezy-apache2-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3 It works perfectly and everything seems ok. but now a days I've faced a new problem with my mail client. I recently installed rainloop on my web site and configured it but here is the main |ISSUE: How can I use sieve services via my email client because it asks for a port and nether the default port nor imap ports work with this part of rain loop. I have rechecked my dovecot config files and everything seems ok but no exact port is defined in this file. So how am I suppose to link my rainloop client with sieve services and where can I define the exact port number for this service. Best
Sounds like it's using managesieve protocol - make sure in have dovecot-managesieved installed and configured, and that your rain loop server can talk to your imap server on port 4190/tcp (eg. not blocked by a firewall).
done! that worked for me and now I'm able to set filters but now I have a second problem: now my rainloop uses port 9595 for sending mails as per the port I have defined but when I set a filter to forward some of incoming mails , this is done automatically with port 25 and this doesn't use the defined port in rainloop. what shall i do to tell my filter to use the sending settings i have set in rainloop?
Ie. you're forwarding mail in a sieve filter? That is all dovecot, it doesn't involve rainloop in any way (well, other than you happened to use rainloop to create the sieve script, but you could do that in other tools, too). That's just going to be delivered as a new message sending through postfix, there's no way to specify a port number. What are you trying to accomplish with that alternate port? If you're sure you need to use it, you might be able to add a plugin to dovecot to run an external program (which you would create) to do the alternate delivery, see http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Pigeonhole/Sieve/Plugins
No way! that's too far hard for me! and ain't worth it! All I need is to get rid of that ISP damn limitations on port 25 that everyday suspends my main IP address for just less than 20 email in a day! they are forcing me to change that god damn port! It seems I cant bare with this isp anymore despite of their generous offers!
