Can't login as root phpmyadmin 2016.

    I did a fresh install of ispconfig 3 on ubuntu 15.10. I can't login to phpmyadmin as root but I can login as root on the command line.
    I get: Cannot log in to the MySQL server . Any ideas to what is wrong?

    What is the exact error you are getting?
    What are the parameters of config.inc? Can you post the same?
