Hi, I did an installation of the DNSServer (mostly) according to the manual. However there is the mimimal-postfix installation procedure missing. Therefore DNS-Servers don't send mail in the current setup. This is just a reminder for the next iteration of the Manual. regards, Rabenkind
There is nothing missing in the DNS server setup. The DNS servers as installed in the tutorial are running a minimal exim instance which exists by default on Debian 8. See screenshot. Better ask if you don't understand a setup instead of claiming that it's incomplete. Just a reminder
Could you please have a look at your manual from page 51 to 56 there is no postfix installation like in the webserver-setup on page 26. Yes I know exim is intalled per default on debian9 machines but is not properly configured per default. thanks.
There shall be NO postfix on the ns servers and that's why NO postfix is installed there. Postfix IS installed on the web node for the sole reason to allow websites to relay trough it.
ok, so in the standard config there is no reason for ISPConfig-DNS-Server to send mail, and if some of my own cronjobs should send mail, this is my own config, yes? that is why you are not configuring it?
ISPConfig does not use it, so we do not configure it. If you configure additional software that shall send email, then you'll have to configure it for your software but not for ISPConfig.
