Hi All, I've just completed a fresh install from this tutorial: https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial...-9-stretch-apache-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3-1/ All went fine without any issues. I'm just checking for issues on mxtoolbox.com and I get the error: "Warning - Does not support TLS". I then followed this tutorial hoping that it might solve the issue: https://www.ispconfig.org/blog/new-...onfig-3-server-against-the-poodle-ssl-attack/ but alas, it did not. Any ideas?
The initial tutorial already configures TLS for postfix, so there is no additional guide or change required. Please post your postfix master.cf file.
Sorry, I pasted the wrong URL in that second bit, I've updated it - it was the tutorial about protecting against the Poodle SSL attack. I followed the instructions and now I can't send or receive any email. Although, I'm not exactly sure that it was working 100% before I made the changes. well spotted! I uncommented those two lines, but now I get an error in the top right corner of the webmail (see attached image)
Restart postfix, then take a look into the mail.log file to see which error messages are shown there now.
In mail.log, why are there references to zg-0711a-74.stretchoid.com? and 107.170.244.238? Where did this come from? Have I been hacked already? you have a whitespace (blank) in front of submission and smtps line, remove that, and restart postfix.
Thank you so much, that was it! But why did a single space alter anything? I wouldn't have thought that a space before the command would ruin it. Also, on a mail server that has 0.00 load, why did it take so long to send and receive an email? Also, in mail.log, why are there references to zg-0711a-74.stretchoid.com? and 107.170.244.238? Where did this come from? Have I been hacked already?
When a line starts with a whitespace in master.cf, then this line is treated as a sub-option of the line before that line without a whitespace. On your case, submission and the liens after submission are treated as a sub-option of the smtp line. How long (seconds)? That's normal, nothing to worry about. Any server connected to the internet gets traffic from spambots that try to send mail through it.
