Hi Am curious If I add a subdomain, do I also need to add a dns record for that subdomain? Or is there some connection between these two I can activate so the correct dns data is added? (I already have cname *. pointed to another ip)
Yes, you also have a dns record for thw subdomain. Otherwise your webbrowser or any other software does not know that this subdomain exists.
Hello @till do to not opening new thread, I will ask here. Since last few months I'm working on ISPConfig3, I have choose this software because it has a nice architecture for a multiserver setup. I am in half way to setup my hosting services, however I have found few issues that could be a problem, but for now I would like to focus on one. I've just noticed, that indeed, adding new subdomain (vhost) it doesn't create an DNS record. But if I would like to do so? Normally it's logic when you add new subdomain in your site area and you have parked domain on same server, submomain should also point to that server. Only in few circumstances it's pointing to third party servers/IP. Is it possible to create new subdomain and DNS record at once? Like simple, idiot proof mechanism. Thank you
There is a wizard that can help you with that. Do read here: https://www.howtoforge.com/communit...bsite-database-ftp-ssh-creation-wizard.67943/
