I've been practicing some commands. Trying to become a little familiar with Linux. In trying to manage a file, I particularly wanted to identify all words that contained 'this'. I searched using /this and the words were then highlighted. However, as I continued doing practice commands, I could not remove the highlight. I tried typing the search again...quitting without saving :q! However, every time I started typing the same paragraph...the words were immediately highlighted.
Is there a command that can remove the highlight or undo the search sort to speak, without having to completely start over?
