I am getting mails can send mail. Can log into web mail, all websites are working.
I am running Debian 9.13 all packages have been updated.
I have tried https://**.****.co.za:8080 and https://888.888.888.888:8080 and either work

    I get the following error:

    Internal Server Error

Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log

I only got 2 errors during the update:

What errors do you find in the web server logs?

Thank you for the reply. I have copied some lines from the var/log/apache2/error.log and var/log/apache2/error.log.1

If you require more please let me know. Also if you could give me a better way to copy it all in one go or export it to a file would be better

Lines are cut short in the attached ispconf_apache.txt. Instead of painting the text on screen. press Control-A to select it all and then copy to clipboard.

    This probably is your problem:
    Code:
[INFO] php (cli) version is 7.0.33-0+deb9u10
[INFO] php-cgi (used for cgi php in default vhost!) is version 5.6.40-0+deb8u10
ISPConfig on Debian 9 needs PHP version 7.0, it does now work with 5.6 on that configuration.
I don't know how php is version 5.6, maybe you have additional php versions and have not set the default back to OS system original? Or you have upgraded from older debian and the PHP upgrade has not completed properly?

I did do an upgrade, would it be safe to uninstall PHP5 and upgrade to 7.4

  14. Taleman

    Taleman Well-Known Member HowtoForge Supporter

What is safe is using the PHP version that comes as default with the operating system.
Also, if some of your websites needs PHP 5.6 since it does not work with later versions, you can not uninstall it.
Have you set up additional PHP versions on ISPConfig?

It requires default php that come with your OS version. Any upgrade to higher version or downgrade to lower version of php, might cause ISPConfig failure both in GUI and CLI.

    Hi

So I have now upgrade to Debian 10 all packages are up to date PHP is now ver7 as can be seen below

    Code:
    PHP 7.0.33-34+0~20201018.42+debian9~1.gbp80c9be (cli) (built: Oct 18 2020 21:35:49) ( NTS )
Copyright (c) 1997-2017 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v3.0.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2017 Zend Technologies
with Zend OPcache v7.0.33-34+0~20201018.42+debian9~1.gbp80c9be, Copyright (c) 1999-2017, by Zend Technologies

But the following still shows up. I know it can be changed in the control panel but i cant access it.
Is there any way to change it manually by editing a config file.?
    Code:
    ##### VERSION CHECK #####

[INFO] php (cli) version is 7.0.33-34+0~20201018.42+debian9~1.gbp80c9be
[INFO] php-cgi (used for cgi php in default vhost!) is version 5.6.40-0+deb8u10

I believe Debian 10 ships with php 7.3 as the default version, you should change to that as your default version.

Also ensure you go through the Perfect Server guide for debian 10 and install all the requisite packages, then run the IPSConfig updater and allow it to reconfigure services and see where things are at.

Once you get the ISPConfig interface back up you'll want to go and update the php paths for your default php version (in php settings under the server config).

  19. Taleman

    Taleman Well-Known Member HowtoForge Supporter

The OS and ISPConfig may be much messed up now, but it might work better if you change default PHP version to what it was originally in Debian 10. Do this
    Code:
    update-alternatives --config php
    update-alternatives --config php-cgi
and choose 7.3, since that is PHP version in Debian 10. If you do not believe me and @Jesse Norell see here:
    https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=php7&searchon=names&suite=stable&section=all
If you updated the OS from Debian 9 to Debian 10, follow the ISPConfig Perfect Server Guide for Debian 10 to get all necessary packages installed and configurations done. Then force reconfigure services in ISPConfig so configuration files get written.

I am not sure about Debian but Sury php repo sometimes did change my php version to the latest instead of keeping the default that come with my Ubuntu OS so I scripted a cronjob to ensure default php is always the one shipped with the OS in the second part of the post in the following link:
    https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/monitor-default-php.83288/

You may or may not need it though.
