When I backup data in the management tab of ISPConfig, what exactly is backed up? Basically, I lost all of my sites, users, etc. and ISPConfig is coming up blank. Most of the sites existed when I did "backup data" last. Will this work and how do I restore it?

Do I need to be using the same version of ISPConfig as was used when I backed up the data?

    Thanks.

This backup contains the mysql database without the passwords.

unpack the backup file (its in .zip format) and restore the contained .sql file with e.g, phpmyadmin.

    yes.

    In directory /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/temp/

I see a dozen of files.

May I delete them? (except for them webmail)

You can delete everything in the temp folder.

The backups are downloaded to your client PC, so you must transfer the backups (zip files) to your new server and unpack them and copy the contents (web directories, user directories) to the correct locations. To restore a MySQL dump, have a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/faq/6_4_en.html
