Mail Server

Hello!

I have a problem, but I dont understand what happening, I have a Debian 11 and a ISPConfig 3. My server have a dynamic ipv4 and a static ipv6 (tunnelbroker). When I try telnet in the port 25 occurred a error. The server mail send and receive don't work, but in the logs don't have any error. When I try connect to email with Thunderbird, he find the server but dont pass of the password checker, don't occur a error, only try the connection endlessly.

 

Ok, I checked, but is Ok, both the website is working perfectly. I figure that the error could be the ISP, but before the last formatting he worked with success, I received the email.

according to ipvoid portscan the port 25 is open, but it are filtered, I don't find a form to insert a image, so if you want to seen, my ip is 2001:470:1f07:3d4::2.

Sounds about right. postfix can't handle a IPv4 Socket "AF_INET" (Note the missing 6), when you only enable ipv6 in inet_protocols.

 

I try put all again, this solved the problem, now my server is working and the other servers discovered my server. But the problem is, I can't use ipv4 for the mail server, because he have not a PTR. How to I change my mail server to only IPV6 in the ISPConfig?

And other thing is, when my server is descovered, the other servers find my domain without hostname (eletroinformaticabrasil.com and not mail.eletroinformaticabrasil.com). I think that the problem is the DNS, because I not give a IPV4 for the A record of mail.eletroinformaticabrasil.com, for not find the incorrect ip...

 

It makes no sense operating a mailserver with IPv6 only, as alot of mailserver will not be able to interact with your mailserver because they are IPv4 only.

What do you mean by "when my server is discovered"?

 

The more famous like gmail and outlook accept these emails, so for me its good. My ISP don't provide IPV4 static only IPV6, so I don't have choise.

When I put my email in Thunderbird, he enconter the server and auto-configure, when I put ip_protocol = ipv6, Thunderbird don't discover my server, is the same thing when I try scan my server with network-tools of webwiz.

 

Are the DNS Records correctly set? Does your client on which you have thunderbird installed even support IPv6?

 

Yes, I know because I already installed a Postfix and Dovecot in this server, and the thunderbird discovered, the problem was a power fall that occurred, and I needed to format the server. So I thing that the problem is any configuration...

 

Debug the connection with telnet or nc and see if a basic connect works. If you don't know how, there are plenty of guides out there.

 

Realy no, only thing functioning with the IPV6 Address is the website... But in the port scan the ports are open

Ok, from what I saw, the only error is the DMARC, but I don't know how I set up the dmarkserver on ISPConfig... is with opendmarc yet?

These days I format again with another HDD and I'm doing mail server test at every step to seen when the problem will start, now I only install ISPConfig, don't choise only ipv6, not install softacullous or the ssl certificate in the dashboard, I'll seen step by step and will edit this message with the updates.

Ok, I do the softaculous install and add two sites to give me a SSL certificate (eletroinformaticabrasil.com to dashboard and mail.eletroinformaticabrasil.com to the mail server). Yet the mail works and the mail server check don't give me a error (besides dmarc).

The something I do different of the last installation of the system is that I install the netplan and net-tools before the ISPConfig to set up the IPV6.

I tried to install the ssl certificate and change de postfix .key and .cert. Now it yet works the server with IPv6. I'll try to change the ISPConfig server configurations to use the SSL.

Works! I don't know what I really do that make work, but the important is are working! I send message to gmail, and no error occurred, the opposity is true.
