    Hello

I'm testing ispconfig for the first time and want to test it a little bit. I'm not a technical guy. I'm just running my own websites directly into any control panel I like.

Anyway, I've followed the installation guide and I installed the CP successfully. However, I'm still stuck with the DNS, I followed most of the guides in the forum and also the signature of Taleman and a bunch of videos. I'm still not successful yet. I know that I must've missed something while adding the zone. I would really appreciate If anyone could help or guide me through troubleshooting my system.

You do not say what is not working except stating
    which does not help much.
If you suspect DNS is not working, my Tutorial which you say you have read, has information on troubleshooting. Show the output of the test commands here if you want to get help.

I don't know how to "Log in to ns1 or ns2 host and start testing." . I already have root access and can run any sudo command.

    But running

    Code:
    systemctl status bind9.service

    gives me this "error 1.jpg"
    error 1.jpg
    Also Running

    Code:

    netstat -tap

    gives me this "error 2.jpg"
    error2.jpg

Seems as if you missed adding some dots in the DNS records. Every fully qualified domain name ends with a dot in DNS. As far as I can see, dots are missing in 3 A records (ns1, ns2 and web). You can either use the short form without dot, e.g.

    ns1

or you use the long form, which ends with a dot:

    ns1.yourdomain.tld.

See tutorial from @Taleman about DNS configuration.

I fixed it but still not working

The first part of the tutorial of Taleman, is connecting to ns1... root@ns1
How can I connect to ns1?

Have you set up three computers, one is the web server and two computers to run as name server 1 and name server 2? If yes, connect to ns1 and ns2 same way you connect to the web server command line.
You still do not say what is not working.
If the name server process, bind9, is not running, name service can not work on that host at all. See /var/log/syslog after you try to start bind9, there should be log messages to indicate what is going on.

By setting up you mean, Adding records just as what is shown in the Gui Pictures and also Adding nameservers in my domain registrar? If that so, then Yes.

PS:. I'm trying to migrate myself from Plesk to Ispconfig. Plesk tends to be a more non-technical friendly. After successful Installation in plesk, I just add my website url and choose which Ip to link and it creates all the records for me and I do nothing else on the server setup proper dns propagation. I'm expecting some differences in ISPConfig.

By Not working, I mean The domain doesn't propagate to the server like this site.jpg

This is the log after starting Bind9 Log2.jpg

I do not know what log file that is, and it is unreadable at least on my screen. Try
    Code:
    grep named /var/log/syslog
    t
I mean, how many computers are there in your setup? One, two, three, some other number?

Only one VPS to Host Everything for me

Also I can't connect to FTP to download the log file. I believe There is something I haven't setup yet that is preventing my server to connect to the world outside.

When you do not have hosts ns1 and ns2 you can not connect to them.
Is suspect you have not registered new name servers to your domain, so it uses wrong name servers.
    What shows command
    Code:
    whois yourdomain.tld | grep -i "name server"
When name servers for your domain are not your hosts, you can not use ISPConfig DNS tab to manage name servers for your domain. Your service or hosting provider probably runs name servers, you should use them. If you do want to set up your own name servers, you need two of them. When you have tested they work OK, you must register your name servers as name servers for your domain at the place where you got your domain.
In addition to my DNS tutorial, you can read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_Name_System#Operation

I believe I already have my Nameservers setup in domain registrar portal.

Error5 and Erro6 Images shows it

    Also the result of
    Code:
    whois yourdomain.tld | grep -i "name server"

    In error7

As I mentioned before, All my settings worked with Plesk without an issue

but when I installed ispconfig and tried the same. It is not working as it supposed to be.

Post your real domain name and server Ip address so we can look things up, otherwise, we will not get any further. If you don't want to publish it, you can hire business support here to set up DNS for you: https://www.ispconfig.org/get-support/?type=ispconfig

If you don't like to learn how to administer servers go back to Plesk. ISPConfig is a system for professional use and large scale installations beyond what Plesk offers. As with any professional software, you need more knowledge of how things work on the internet.
