Upgrade to Debian 12

Discussion in 'Installation/Configuration' started by Ignacio Garcia, Aug 24, 2023.

  1. Hello everyone

I'm about to start testing on upgrading servers to Debian 12. I'm still on ISP 3.2.10. My initial thought was after updating Debian 11 to latest packages in repositories, update ISPC to 3.2.11 and then afterwards upgrade Debian to version 12. I'm using ISPC on a master-slaves scheme, with Apache, LE, Dovecot, Postfix, RSpamd, bind9, with very few minor adjustments mostly on the postfix side.

Can anybody suggest/confirm this approach as valid?

    TIA,

    Ignacio

    Hello
    ,
I have already done the same.
Now my ISPC server has Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) and everything works fine.
    Best regards,

It would be best to wait for the official guide on that to be out. I am working on that but need some time to finish it.

I've attempted this a few times on a restored backup of my server vm into a test envirment. Each time it's failed in the area of updating the MariaDB database system, the last one being updating the actual roundcube database. The Debian 11 install guide set's a password for roundcube, yet the install guide for Debian 12 doesn't. (My setup has a password set).

There is always a password for RoundCube, so it's the same for Debian 11 and 12. Entering no password for RoundCube database in apt during install does not mean that no password is being used, it just means that apt creates a random password automatically. So there is no difference between Debian 11 and 12 here.
