    Hi Till,
Debian Bullseye / auto install script
Having some issues with a new ISPConfig installation.
Can connect via IP on port 8080, can connect to Apache welcome page with hostname, but not to ispconfig with hostname:8080.

This indicates requests are reaching port 8080.

requests to hostname ok (apache) - domain is resolving.

    But not hostname:8080

    Kindly advise.

The ISPConfig configuration is not hostname specific, it listens on everything (any name, any IP) on port 8080 of your server, so there is most likely something wrong with the DNS record of your hostname and not with your server. Check the A and AAA DNS record.

    Hi Till,

I have examined and replaced my DNS records, here they are, can you identify where I am going wrong?

Type Name Content Proxy Status TTL
    A xyz.com 81.10.120.123 Proxied Auto
    CNAME server1 xyz.com Proxied Auto
    CNAME www xyz.com Proxied Auto
    TXT xyz.com MS=xxxxxxxx DNS Only 12 hr

I have also added an additional CNAME record for www and can connect to Apache on https://www.xyz.com (record is being added correctly, resolving).

    https://server1.xyz.com:8080

I get the following browser error:

    Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to server1.xyz.com:8080. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

    Error code: PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

    • The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
    • Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
https://81.10.120.123:8080 - I get ISPConfig login as expected.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Till,

Replaced CNAME for server1 with A record as advised. Problem fixed.

    Many thanks.

    Have a great day :)

    Hi Till,

Does Softaculous and WHMCS (as an alternative to the ISPConfig billing module) still work with ISPConfig?

Are there any guides in this forum, or tutorials I can refer to that explain the installation procedure for both Softaculous and WHMCS.

Is anyone aware of an alternative plugin / module for ISPConfig that installs WordPress etc, as it appears the Software installer for ISPConfig is now deprecated.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

I do not use them, so you might have to ask their vendors.

    Ask their vendors.

Yes, a new ISPConfig App installer will be available as a plugin in a few weeks.

    Yahu Till!

Is a beta available for a quick look?

    One last question.

Is there a tutorial for standard "basic" setup of the most commonly used items in the ISPConfig billing module, i.e for a very basic hosting platform with 3 hosting packages, development, migration etc. As I found it very complicated as it was a series of PHP scripts with no pre-developed front end templates / HTML/ PHP forms that call the billing module PHP scripts. My reason for WHMCS is that its all pre-built with a link from you site via a button, to a product page, then added to a cart page etc, with very nice Paypal button, google pay, stripe etc. Very nice, alot less work, but very expensive and probably not 100% supported by ISPConfig, just nice if it there is an example / tutorial / howto (not the manual) that makes the billing module easier to implement. I am aware there are PHP script templates (without GUI, just code) I would really like to drop WHMCS and utilize the ISPConfig billing module instead. Kindly advise.

No, there is no beta available yet.

The ISPConfig Billing Module is made for providers that run their own individual websites with a larger number of servers and clients, so it's a tool that providers use to integrate their websites with ISPConfig to bill customers. These users also adapt and extend the Billing Module to suit their individual needs. Therefore, there is no frontend for the Billing Module; as such users won't use that anyway. If I understand you correctly, you search for a ready-made hosting frontend as you do not plan to have an individually programmed website for your hosting; in this case, the Billing Module is not made for you, and you better go with WHMCS.

Regarding documentation: the manual of the Billing Module can be downloaded from Billing Module page, it explains the functions of the Billing Module in detail: https://www.ispconfig.org/add-ons/billing-module/
