Upgrade ISPconfig from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04

mmmh, ok, looks like I will have to do another test update from ubuntu 20 to 22 from the start. From what @till says likely the error starts from do-release-upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04. I will give feedback in the next few days

 

when you do the upgrade and it asks you to reboot now, cancel!
check your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ folder for repositories not having the name changed to jammy and do it.
or look for things that are commented out and shouldn't ( check the guide ) e.g. goaccess, mariadb repo or whatever you have there
do the apt update and upgrade manually again if you found anything
if you see any error, do not reboot
otherwise reboot

I followed again the tutorial https://www.howtoforge.com/update-the-ispconfig-perfect-server-from-ubuntu-20-04-to-ubuntu-22-04/ and actually saw that Roundcube and Phpmyadmin had disappeared after the do-release-upgrade. I reinstalled them before following the part about ispconfig and everything went fine. I just had to give the command a2enmod php8.1 to create the appropriate symlinks in apache2/mods-enabled.
