I have two sites, same server, same .htaccess and on one site sitename.tld/stats makes a 404 where on another I get the login and then stats. These are both Joomla sites with same .htaccess and folder permissions are correct. I compared the .htaccess files, no difference between working and not working (404). If I temporarily remove the .htaccess in either the /web or the /web/stats folder producing the 404, the 404 goes away and the stats are accessible. What could account for the problem? -JB
What is in that .htaccess -file? If removing it solves the error, it would be reasonable to expect there is something in that file that causes the error. Maybe the working website ignores the .htaccess or parts of it, so it works despite the error in .htaccess file.
Both Joomla sites, here is the .htaccess of both sites: Code: ## # @package Joomla # @copyright (C) 2005 Open Source Matters, Inc. <https://www.joomla.org> # @license GNU General Public License version 2 or later; see LICENSE.txt ## ## # READ THIS COMPLETELY IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THIS FILE! # # The line 'Options +FollowSymLinks' may cause problems with some server configurations. # It is required for the use of Apache mod_rewrite, but it may have already been set by # your server administrator in a way that disallows changing it in this .htaccess file. # If using it causes your site to produce an error, comment it out (add # to the # beginning of the line), reload your site in your browser and test your sef urls. If # they work, then it has been set by your server administrator and you do not need to # set it here. ## ## No directory listings <IfModule mod_autoindex.c> IndexIgnore * </IfModule> ## Suppress mime type detection in browsers for unknown types <IfModule mod_headers.c> Header always set X-Content-Type-Options "nosniff" ## # Disable Federated Learning of Cohorts (FLoC) # If you uncomment the below directive you have to allow this technology in the # Global Configuration of Joomla. This file rewrites everything to index.php, including all requests to the statistics files. You must add rewrite conditions to exclude /stats/ from being rewritten.
