I just wanted to upgrade my mailserver to Ubuntu 22.04 as ISPconfig 3.2.9 supports it -> https://www.ispconfig.org/blog/ispconfig-3-2-9-released/ Luckily I realized beforehand that Ubuntu 22.04 does not come anymore with mailman 2 but with the newer mailman3, which doesn't seem to be supported by ISPconfig. https://forum.howtoforge.com/threads/mailman3-on-ispconfig3.84253/ It would be great to have that mentioned somehwere in the release notes, so that people do not upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 if they want to use mailman. The installation manual for ISPconfig, support Ubuntu 22.04 does look like it still supports mailman? https://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig-autoinstall-debian-ubuntu/ How are others handling the missing mailman support when upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04?
The AI will tell you that Mailman 3 is not supported on 22.04, so it won't be installed. I will shortly write a guide on how to upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04, like I did for Debian 10 > Debian 11: https://www.howtoforge.com/update-the-ispconfig-perfect-server-from-debian-10-to-debian-11/
Thanks @Th0m for the confirmation that there is really no way forward (currently) with mailman, Ubuntu 22.04 and ISPconfig. I'll see if I wait with the upgrade of Ubuntu or get rid of any mailing lists
btw, is there any plan on support Mailman 3 in ISPconfig? https://forum.howtoforge.com/threads/mailman3-on-ispconfig3.84253/ is 2 years old and in the issue tracker I don't see it referenced (https://git.ispconfig.org/ispconfig/ispconfig3/-/issues/?search=mailman).
Thanks @till for clarificiation. I was not looking at the closed issues as it didn't sound as mailman 3 will never be supported. It would help if it would be clearly stated in release notes, manuals and similar of ISPconfig. (e.g. https://www.ispconfig.org/ispconfig/services-and-functions/). Thanks. @Th0m: I would suggest to update your howto and remove the "yet" from: "Warning: mailman2 is not supported in Debian 11, and mailman3 is not (yet) supported by ISPConfig." I'll see how to get rid of any mailing lists still in use ;-)
It's not that mailman3 will never be supported. We just found no developer yet who is willing to implement it or no sponsor to hire an external developer to implement it.
I worked through the install guides yesterday and today... just did lvconvert --merge on the server ) It's definitly a high level medium difficulty to install onto an ispconfig3... Luckly i don't use mailman too much, because i didn't realise when i was upgrading to debian 11... Would be great of course if there will be a guide to implement it in ispconfig3! Cheers! Thanks for all effort and best regards Daniel
I run ISPConfig on really old containers (under Proxmox) because i don't have a solution for Mailman which is crucial for my NGO clients. As a consequence my Postfix install is quite outdated and Rspamd impossible. Where can i state my wish for integration of mailman3 please ? And otherwise : Is there a package for Newsletters supported by ISPConfig so i can migrate the lists? Edit: I'm listed as new member but on this forum for many years. Thanx guys, for your software!!
There is a "request a feature" -link on this page: https://www.ispconfig.org/development/ I think the gitlab thing wants registering as user before it is possible to create issues. Another way is to use Feature Requests forum, you already can post here: https://forum.howtoforge.com/forums/feature-requests.31/
